A little about me.

Colleen Denery (she/her) is a student in the design program at UC Davis. She was born in Burlingame, California, but she grew up in Newton, Massachusetts.  She is a designer who uses her traditional art and drawing skills to enhance her digital work. In Spring of 2024, she successfully transferred from College of San Mateo on account of the amount of credits she took and her grades. Colleen plans to pursue her Bachelors Degree in Major of Design and a Minor in Art History at UC Davis and further her career in graphic design, illustration, and animation.

"Throughout my childhood, I was constantly exposed to cartoons that featured all kinds of colorful, quirky characters with exciting themes. These are the types of characters and stories that I carried with me throughout my life thus far. Since childhood, I've been inspired not only by human emotions but also by animals. My drawings are very character driven, showcasing emotions as the focal point of my illustrations. I also take a lot of inspiration from nostalgia. In my designs, I channel my inner child and incorporate elements that I was excited about when I was younger; Such as books, places I visited, TV shows, and toys I had. This excitement takes form in the vibrant colors I use, and the stylized compositions in my pieces. Through using applications such as Adobe Illustrator, Paint Tool Sai, and Toon Boom Harmony. "
